[It's a good thing they went through the phone first because Claude actually pulls it back out to start taking notes as Gaku explains. There are underground aqueduct systems in his homeland that are far beyond anything Fodlan has but even that doesn't come close to the complexity of this indoor plumbing nonsense. It's fascinating.]

Okay, so... I get that a lot of these are for cleaning? But...
[Determining what is meant for cleaning people and what is meant for things and the idea of different soaps for different purposes (laundry, dishes, people, etc) is mind boggling. This part might be the last straw for Gaku, though, because while Claude was fascinated by the plumbing part of things he just will not let the other man give him a quick run down of an item and be done. There's a "why" for everything, down to wanting to understand the chemical processes used in the creation of any number of these things.
In fact, he seems to be quite aware of the use of acids and alkali and how to trigger saponification in oils with the use of lye. Which leads to him being eager to know the chemical formulas for the various types of soap and how they differ.

[Once Gaku explains the basics there's a fair bit that Claude can extrapolate from that just through his existing chemical knowledge. It's fascinating, really, and he's clearly excited to look into it more in depth.]
What I do? [Look he tries to relate to people really hard but sometimes there's a disconnect when you've been raised as royalty and the idea of having a set job is... sort of foreign to him. Never mind that in the ye olde days it was less of a "what you do" and more of a "what you are".]
