[Linhardt scowls when Claude takes his phone. Why do people keep trying to steal it? Are people allergic to saying 'hello, Linhardt, may I please have your personal portable miracle device?'(No, he does not realize the irony in wishing that other people were respecting his boundaries.
But the scowl gives way to fascination when Claude pulls the encyclopedia up. It's true that it isn't as detailed as he'd like, but simply being shown that such a thing exists is enough for Linhardt to snatch the phone back and move his fingers in a flurry, pressing things, opening tabs, and saving them to something called a 'reading list'.
History of science, yes. Wi-fi, yes. Telephones, yes. The electromagnetic spectrum, yes. It takes a solid two minutes before he realizes Claude is still there.]
You can leave now.
[It's not curt or angry; Linhardt is just helpfully letting Claude know that Claude has fulfilled his social obligation and can therefore be on his way.]
Unless you wanted to talk to me about something.
[A slight concession to Claude for showing him the digital encyclopedia.]
[Claude leans back, arms crossed as he watches Linhardt disappear into the void of the internet. Is he surprised? Not in the slightest.]
Never change, Linhardt.
[Muttered with a laugh and a fleeting pat on his shoulder. He understands all too well how difficult it is not to get sucked into the vast stores of information so readily available. Still it's kind of cute seeing it on someone else. With that, though, he is content to wander off and let him figure things out on his own.]
I'm sorry he is the way he is
